Here are a few money-saving tips that you can utilize when planning the catering portion of your next event!
1. Choose Cold Hor D’oeuvres
In most cases, these options require less preparation time. Choose fresh fruit, cheese & crackers and/or mini sandwiches.
2. Keep Seafood Off Of The Menu
Seafood is more costly menu item, especially for large events. Chicken and beef are less expensive and there are many dishes that can incorporate them to bring a sense of variety.
3. Limit Your Entree Choices
If you are having a seated dinner, limit the amount of entrees that you offer to two instead of three or four.
4. Avoid Sit Down Dinners
Instead of having a sit down dinner, opt for a buffet for food stations. You can serve Asian food, Mexican food and pasta. These options are not only tasty, but less expensive as well.
5. Plan Your Event During “In-Between” Meal Times
Having your event during the times of 3 or 4 p.m. helps to save you money as this is times of day that your guests do not expect to get full. More than likely, they have already eaten lunch and know that it is too early to have a full dinner spread.
6. Limit Or Eliminate Alcohol
Alcohol is very expensive. If you decide to serve alcohol, make sure that you purchase the correct amounts. Some people also opt to have a cash bar instead of an open bar.
These are only a few tips that I am sharing right now. Your planner can offer so many more tips to make sure that your event is less expensive while still being memorable!
